Beşiktaş confirmed that talks are ongoing with Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

The Istanbul club released the following statement on the, Public Disclosure Forum (KAP), "Negotiations with Allan McGregor are officially underway."

The 30-year-old Scottish International's agent travelled to Istanbul recently to discuss a possible move with Beşiktaş officials.

Beşiktaş are reported to be on the verge of signing McGregor on a three-year deal. The keeper will be signed as a free agent if talks are successful.

McGregor has remained loyal to Rangers in the past, the Scottish International keeper accepted a 75 percent reduction in wages last season when the Gers were forced into administration due to financial difficulties.

However, the experienced goalkeeper has started voicing concerns about his future at the club following a further deterioration in the clubs finances.

McGregor was one of several players refusing to allow their contracts be transferred to new owner Charles Green's, Newco Rangers proposal.

The experienced keeper is entitled to terminate his agreement under the, Transfer of Undertakings legislation however, Green disputes these claims.

McGregor told English newspaper, The Guardian, "If the worst came to the worst and I have to go, there would probably be regret.

"You just wish everything was perfect and none of this carry on was happening. But it is, and at this moment in time you don't know where it is going to go.

"I wanted to stay. I wanted to be in the mix to win things every season, which I thought I would, and I have been here since I was a young boy. I love the place, I know everybody. It feels comfortable and feels like home" he said.

The experienced keeper has spent six seasons at Rangers and has 21 Scotland international caps.
