Galatasaray confirm talks with Real Madrid over Hamit Altintop

The Istanbul club have released a statement confirming negotiations are ongoing

Galatasaray have confirmed they are in talks with Real Madrid over Hamit Altintop.

The Lions released the following statement on the, Public Disclosure Forum (KAP), "Official negotiations with Real Madrid FC over Hamit Altintop are under way."

Galatasaray are reported to have agreed a four-year contract deal with Altintop, however, negotiations are still ongoing regarding his wage fees.

Altintop has struggled at Real Madrid having only played in 12 games this season and rarely making the starting eleven.

The versatile 29-year-old midfielder joined the Galatico's from Bayern Munich last summer, his contract runs until 2015.

Altintop has made no secret of wanting to be reunited with manager Fatih Terim following the Turkish national teams impressive Euro 2008 campaign.

In a post-match interview, following Turkey's 3-1 victory over Georgia, Altintop told reporters, "Now I must make a decision. I have to keep a clear head. I'd like to play more and Galatasaray would not only offer me that opportunity but also allow me to return to my country."

Altintop has also been closely linked with rivals, Fenerbahçe.
