Fenerbahçe will be shifting from a 4-2-3-1 set-up to a 4-4-2 formation

Fenerbahçe's most recent signing, Raul Meireles will get his first start for Fenerbahçe since arriving on a €10 million move from Cheslea.

The Portuguese international is set to play against Mersin Idman Yurdu on Sunday 16 September.

Meireles returned from international duty to resume training with his new team. The 29-year-old midfielder gave an impressive performance in Portugal's 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan in their World Cup 2014 qualification group.

The former Chelsea man told reporters in a post-match interview that Fenerbahçe's vision had played a role in convincing him to make the move.

Meireles went on to say, "I was really taken aback by the reception I received in Istanbul, it really moved me."

Fenerbahçe manager Aykut Kocaman will be implementing a 4-4-2 system, in what will be one of the most significant tactical changes the club has made since the arrival of Alex De Souza in the early 2000's.

The Yellow Canaries played with a 4-2-3-1 set-up for several years however, Kocaman has been planning for change since last season.

The new look Fenerbahçe side will be keeping the same back four, with Yobo and either Egemen or Bekir in as centre-backs. Gökhan Ünal will start on the right while Hasan Ali is expected to feature as left-back.

Meireles and Topal will make up the central midfield, Stoch will regain his starting position on the left wing with Topuz on the right replacing the injured Krasic.

Dirk Kuyt and Alex De Souza are expected to start upfront.
