Galatasaray linked with Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott
Galatasaray have been linked with out of favor Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott.
Lescott has struggled with a back injury this season and manager Roberto Mancini has favoured youngster Matija Nastastic.
City recently valued Lescott at £8 million, the England international defender is on £90,000-a-week wages.
However, Mancini hasn't given his blessings for such a move to go ahead yet and still believes the 30-year-old defender has a role to play this season.
Galatasaray have struggled defensively, having conceded 20 goals in 2012-13 only four less than the Lions conceded in the entire 2011-12 season.
The Istanbul giants failed to find a suitable replacement for Tomas Ujfalusi who suffered a long-term injury just before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Lions signed Cris in what was a panic buy, however, the experienced Brazilian defender failed to settle.
Galatasaray are looking to add depth to the squad in order to compete in both the Champions League and the domestic title race.
The Istanbul club would be able to match his current wages even due to the favourable tax rates for football players in Turkey.
Footballers playing in the Turkish Super League pay just 15 percent in income tax compared to 50 percent in the Premier League.
Lescott joined City from Everton in 2009 for £24 million and has gone onto play 117 games for The Citizens.
