Sneijder snubbed Liverpool because he - 'wants to play for titles'
Internazionale star Wesley Sneijder decided to join Galatasaray despite interest from Premier League side Liverpool because he wanted to play for silverware.
"I want to play for titles," said Sneijder to Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf.
Galatasaray have qualified for the second round of the Champions League and are currently first in the domestic league title race.
The 28-year-old midfielder also told GS TV that he can't wait to start playing for his new club.
Sneijder said, "I love big matches, I would love to play against Beşiktaş in the derby. It will be amazing and the atmosphere will be great, I can't wait to go there and play my first derby.
"I know how much football is loved in Turkey, I will make the Galatasaray fans very proud and very happy. I'm looking forward to meeting them and making a good life together.
"I know of Fatih Terim and his time in Italy, it's an honor to be working with him, Galatasaray has a team full of quality players."
Sneijder joined Galatsaray from Inter for €7.5 million on a 3.5 year contract.
The Netherlands international has won the Serie A, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and finished runner up in the 2010 World Cup.
