Galatasaray 4-2 Orduspor: Simply Sneijder
Galatasaray went into tonight's game against Orduspor wanting to give the fans something to cheer about following a disappointing mid-week Champions League display against Schalke 04.
Fatih Terim made a number of changes, Gokhan Zan started instead of Semih Kaya as center-back and Hakan Balta started as left-back ahead of Albert Riera.
Hamit Altintop, Selçuk Inan and Nordin Amrabat started in midfield with Wesley Sneijder being given a free role behind strikers Didier Drogba and Burak Yilmaz.
The Lions got off to the worst possible start - Fernando Muslera's clearance rebounded off his own player - Selçuk Inan - into the back of his own net.
Galatasaray looked unable to shake off the demons which haunted them against Schalke as they once again looked disjointed, unorganised and lacking team synergy.
A bad situation got even worse at the stroke of half time as Orduspor were awarded a penalty. Stancu doubled the away sides lead and gave the Black Sea club a comfortable cushion going into the second half.
Terim was unable to contain his fury at half time and ended up having to spend the rest of the game in the stands after being sent off.
The experienced manager's passion however, managed to rub off on his players, especially Sneijder. The Netherlands international lead Galatasaray's comeback in the 58th minute with a wonderful goal - curving the ball round the keeper into the top corner.
Galatasaray assistant manager Hasan Şaş soon joined Terim in the stands as he also received a red card from the referee.
The Lions looked a lot more fluid when Altintop was replaced by Umut Bulut in the 67th minute, in fact the Istanbul club equalised a minute later thanks to a move created by the substitute.
Burak levelled the score and then took Galatasaray ahead two minutes later. The Turkish international striker has now scored 62 times in his last 71 league games and is the leading scorer in the league with 14 goals and the joint goal king in the Champions League.
Selçuk wrapped up the three points in the 78th minute with another spectacular strike reminiscent of Sneijder's goal.
Terim will be disappointed with his sides poor first half display however, he is starting to get a lot more out of new signings Sneijder and Drogba. Galatasaray showed great mental strength to come back from a two goal deficit and extended their lead at the top of the table to six points in the process.
