Didier Drogba - Chelsea Lion roars in Istanbul
Didier Drogba celebrated a record 19th Turkish Super League title with Galatasaray - his first first piece of silverware outside of England.
"I'm very happy because this title was very important for the club," Drogba said following the Lions 4-2 championship deciding victory over Sivasspor.
"It's our 19th title and I hope that next season we will make it 20 and extend our lead over Fenerbahçe further.
"I'm very happy for the fans and the players here they deserve it - they had a very difficult and long season.
"I've been playing for a season and am very happy that I was able to help them achieve this title."
Drogba achieved legendary status at Chelsea winning countless titles including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and led the Blues to their first Champions League trophy.
Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim was full of praise for the Ivorian international after the game and described Drogba as being a great leader.
Terim said, "Drogba is a great leader, with his experience he is one of the most important strikers in the world.
"Words cannot express what he brings to the team, his presence is electrifying and adds so much strength to the team.
"He is the teams natural leader on the field and there is still a lot more to come from him."
Drogba has five goals and six assists in 10 league appearances this season.
