Sunderland join Hull City in race for Johan Elmander
Sunderland are preparing a move for Galatasaray striker Johan Elmander.
The Black Cats have been scouting the Turkish Süper Lig over the 2012-13 season and recently signed Bursaspor defensive midfielder Alfred N'Diaye.
Sunderland will be facing competition from Hull City who are making a £400,000 move for Elmander according to the Daily Mail and Kasımpaşa have also been linked with the former Premier League striker.
Elmander has been transfer listed by Galatasaray who are in a battle to meet the tight foreign player restrictions which the Turkish Football Federation has imposed on the league.
The Swedish international is coming off the back of a title winning season - his second Turkish Super League trophy - however, struggled for playing time during the 2012-13 league campaign.
Elmander spent much of the season out with injuries.
The 32-year-old striker joined Galatasaray from Bolton on a free transfer. Elmander scored 12 times in 30 games in the Lion's championship winning 2011-12 season.
Elmander has scored four goals in 14 appearances this season and has a year left on his contract.
Elmander became Bolton Wanderers most expensive transfer of all time when he was signed for €12.6 million on a three-year contract in 2008.
