Chelsea FC's Plan B - Burak Yilmaz
Chelsea have rekindled efforts to sign Burak Yilmaz according to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik.
The latest developments follow Jose Mourinho being asked whether he had other transfer targets apart from Wayne Rooney.
"We have plans B and C. Don't ask me names. It's difficult to speak about players from other clubs," Mourinho said.
"We have the conditions to try to improve our team by bringing in one more player and we are going to try that till the end."
Yilmaz is being claimed as one of Mourinho's alternatives in the Turkish press.
Chelsea have scouted the Turkish international over the past few months and lodged an enquiry with Galatasaray for Yilmaz in June.
Galatasaray informed Chelsea that it would take a bid in excess of €23 million for talks to begin.
Mourinho has also been full of praise for the prolific striker and recently described Yilmaz as being a world class player.
"Drogba, Sneijder and Burak [Yilmaz] could play for any team in the world," Mouinho said in the lead up to the quarter-finals between Real Madrid and Galatasaray.
The Turkish international striker was selected by UEFA.com as being the Champions League Player of the Group Stages. The European football body also nominated Yilmaz as a candidate for their Team of the Year award.
Burak's goals - eight in nine appearances - played a crucial role in guiding Galatasaray into the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Turkish international also scored in six consecutive UEFA Champions League matches equaling the record held by then-Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh recorded in 2010.
Domestically it's been a similar story - Burak finished the 2012-13 league campaign as the leading scorer for the second season in a row. The 28-year-old scored 24 times in 30 appearances and also made the most number of assists - eight - for the Lions.
The prolific striker has scored 57 goals in 61 games in the league over the last three seasons - including his goal against Gaziantepspor in the opening game of the 2013-14 season.
Burak joined Galatasaray on a €5 million move from Trabzonspor last season and has three years left on his contract.
