Didier Drogba confident Galatasaray can beat Real Madrid again
Didier Drogba told reporters in his pre-match press conference that he is confident Galatasaray can beat Real Madrid again.
"It's a new season and we know we can beat them again," Drogba told a news conference on Monday.
"The best thing to do is play good football and give 100 percent to win. Once again we are going to face the top clubs of Europe this season and I think we have a good chance to qualify (for the knockout stages)."
Galatasaray defeated Real 3-2 at home in the return leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last season.
"With our game we can get the fans to cheer," Drogba said.
"Last season, Madrid’s players were in shock. After the game they said it was crazy, we have great fans.
"And it's true, our fans are the best. I hope that on Tuesday they are behind us, as always, and that we can give them a nice surprise.
"It will be difficult to win, but I hope that we can get a good result. Madrid are a great club with great players, but football is played on the field, 11 against 11, so why not?"
Galatasaray have never been defeated by Real in Istanbul.
Drogba joined Galatasaray on a free transfer from Shanghai Shenhua in January.
The 35-year-old striker has lifted three trophies - the 2012-13 Süper Lig, Emirates Cup 2013, Turkish Süper Kupa 2013 - since joining the reigning Turkish champions.
