Wesley Sneijder denies receiving offer from Manchester United
Wesley Sneijder has denied receiving an offer from Manchester United and also refuted claims that Netherlands national team manager Louis van Gaal advised him to leave Galatasaray.
"Manchester United have not made an offer," Sneijder said in an interview with Galatasaray Magazine.
"Van Gaal did not advise me to leave Galatasaray, he actually encouraged me to make the move.
"Galatasaray is a Champions League level club and he supported my move."
The Red Devils were reported to be preparing a £13 million bid for Sneijder after failing to sign the Netherlands international in the summer.
Galatasaray Sportive Coordinator Bülent Tulun recently revealed that a previous offer from the Premier League outfit had been rejected.
”Sneijder received an indirect offer from Manchester United but it was not accepted," Tulun told Milliyet.
Sneijder joined Galatasaray from Inter Milan for €7.5 million last January.
The 29-year-old has seven goals and two assists in 17 appearances for Galatasaray this season.
Sneijder scored the winning goal against Juventus on Match Day 6 to guide the Lions into the Champions League Last 16.
