The Mirror claim that Van Persie was disappointed that Van Gaal decided to humiliate him instead of telling him in person that his time at United was up.

The Dutch star had made it clear that he wanted more first team football after falling down the pecking order at United.

Van Persie only made 27 Premier League appearances last season scoring a total of 10 goals.

Fenerbahçe boss Aziz Yıldırım confirmed that Van Persie will arrive in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday.

Yıldırım revealed the arrival date at the Fenerbahçe Topuk Yaylası and sporting director Giuliano Terraneo also made the same statement.
