Ronald Koeman wants Dirk Kuyt at Southampton

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman wants his club to make a move for Fenerbahce’s Dirk Kuyt in January.

The Dutch manager wants to strengthen his squad in January in order to maintain their strong start to the season.

The 34-year-old ended a six-year spell at Liverpool when he moved to Fenerbahce in June 2012 for €1 million.

The experienced forward has started all ten of Fenerbahce’s games this season and the Istanbul giants are unlikely to sell former Liverpool man in January, unless Southampton make them a high enough offer.

West Ham are also rumoured to be interested in signing Kuyt.

Kuyt’s contract with Fenerbahce runs out at the end of the season. Fenerbahce are preparing to offer a 34-year-old a one-year contract extension.

The Netherlands international scored 71 goals in 285 matches for the Liverpool and 24 goals in 104 international appearances.

Kuyt has made one assist and scored one goal in ten appearances for Fenerbahce this season.
