Scotland won't be able to stop Germany says Arsenal star

Mesut Ozil Arsenal v West Brom

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has warned Scotland that they will not be able to stop Germany ahead of the Euro 2016 qualification game on Monday.

Group D leaders Germany take on third placed Scotland on Monday 7 September following their 3-1 win over Poland on Friday 4 September.

Özil believes Scotland will put up a fight but that ultimately it will not be enough to prevent a Germany victory.

“I think we deserve to be at the top of the group. Now we have to go further on Monday. We know it will be a tough game because Scotland will fight until the 90th minute. But if we show what we can then Scotland won’t be able to stop us,” Özil was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Özil played the full 90 minutes for Germany against Poland and is expected to start against Scotland as well.

The 26-year-old played an important role in Germany winning the 2014 World Cup last summer.

Özil is one of three players in the Germany national team of Turkish origin with the others being Emre Can and İlkay Gündoğan.

Turkey take on the Netherlands on Sunday and will also have several players born in Germany of Turkish origin such as Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Beşiktaş winger Gökhan Töre.
