Serie A club join the race for West Ham & Leicester City target

West Ham United and Leicester city have been joined by Fiorentina in the race to sign Napoli’s in-demand central midfielder Gokhan Inler according to the Sky Sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio.

The report states that Fiorentina are the only Italian club after the 31-year-old. Inler has spent the past eight seasons in the Serie A at Udinese and Napoli. The Switzerland international scored one goal in 33 appearances for Napoli last season.

Di Marzio goes onto say that Leicester City are currently front runners in the race with Inler’s agent currently in England holding talks with the Premier League side. The Foxes are understood to have tabled an offer of €6 million for the 31-year-old.

Leicester city manager Claudio Ranieri revealed earlier this week that he was close to securing a replacement for Esteban Cambiasso.

The experienced Argentinian decided against extending his contract with the Foxes and departed the club at the end of last season.

Leicester pulled off the ‘great-escape’ last season to beat the drop. The foxes ended the season in 14th place with 41 points.
