Serie A giants join Fenerbahce in the race to sign Liverpool forward

Lazar Markovic

Serie A giants Fiorentina have joined the race to sign Liverpool’s Serbian forward Lazar Markovic.

According to TalkSport Fiorentina have been monitoring the 21-year-old and are interested in signing Markovic this summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has put to bed any rumours that Markovic will be returning from his loan move over the transfer window.

Markovic joined Fenerbahçe on a season long loan. Klopp was quoted by Team Talk as saying: “I don’t think we can take him back.”

The statement was interpreted in the Turkish press as a hint suggesting that Klopp is prepared to part ways with the Serbian international over the summer.

Fenerbahçe meanwhile want to extend Lazar Markovic’s loan deal by another season according to Mynet.

Markovic joined Liverpool in 2014 from Portuguese giants Benfica after being tipped as one of the hottest properties in European football but struggled to settle in under Rodgers.

The Serbian international has two assists and one goal for the Yellow Canaries this season.
