Simeone delighted with Atletico Madrid making Last 16 [divider]
Diego Simeone praised his team following Atletico Madrid’s 4-0 win against Olympiacos in the Champions League Group A.
The victory secured Atleti’s place in the Last 16 for the La Liga champions.
“We have produced some good performances recently,” Simeone said.
“Tonight we had continuity in our game and we were focused on the areas where we could hurt them.
“That affirms the work of this squad and how the team have been reinvented with ten new players to keep on being competitive.
“Many players are in good shape and it’s not easy to be in the starting lineup.”
Turkish international Arda Turan started and provided an assist for Mario Mandzukic’s second goal on 62 minutes.
Turan completed the highest number of successful dribbles for his side (2), passed with an 88 percent accuracy and worked hard defensively when not in possession of the ball as well.
The 27-year-old has two assists and one goal in five Champions League appearances this season.
