Sven Bender hopes Man Utd target signs new deal

Man city team news Ilkay Gundogan

Sven Bender has told the German newspaper kicker (via ESPN) that he hopes some of his teammates will follow him in committing to the club.

The 26-year-old signed a contract extension last week and hopes to lead the way for the signatures of the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Mkhitaryan and Mats Hummels, who all have just over a season left on their current deals.

Manchester United and Liverpool have both expressed an interest in Gundogan according to the Metro newspaper.

The Premier League duo were also linked with the Germany international last summer before he opted to sign a one-year contract extension with the Bundesliga giants.

Dortmund have recorded 15 victories in 21 league games this season and find themselves in second place in the Bundesliga.

Gundogan’s career began at Nuremberg before moving to Dortmund for £4m in 2011.

The Germany international has six assists and three goals in 32 appearances for Dortmund this season.
