Tottenham join race for €20m Turkey international midfielder

Tottenham are the latest club to be linked with a move for Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan according to Fanatik.

The report claims that a number of Premier League sides have been keeping close tabs on Tufan and that Spurs are among the sides most keen.

A source close to Fenerbahce meanwhile told Turkish-football.com that the Istanbul giants want to keep the 21-year-old at the club next season.

Fenerbahce value the midfielder as being worth €20 million and would be reluctant to accept any lower for their star man.

Tufan was the youngest goal scorer at Euro 2016 following his goal against the Czech Republic until 18-year-old Portugal international Renato Sanches scored.

The young midfielder has established himself as a first team Fenerbahce and Turkish international player over the past season and has been closely scouted for over a season.

The Newcastle Cronical recently reported that Manchester United have been scouting the Fenerbahce star over the past 12 months and that Everton, Sunderland and Southampton are also in the race.

The young midfielder has another five-years remaining on his current deal with Fenerbahce and is represented by the same agent as Arda Turan – Ahmet Bulut – who has close ties to super agent Jorge Mendes.

Tufan is highly rated in Turkey and head coach Vitor Pereira actually described him as a new Yaya Toure.

“He still has a lot to learn and that is my job but the world will soon have a central midfielder on the level of Yaya Toure on their hands,” he said speaking on Sport Tv following Turkey’s 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
