However, Trabzonspor midfielder Salih Dursun revealed that he hopes Galatasaray go on to win the league.
Dursun started the game and was one of the Black Sea Storms highest rated players statistically with a Whoscored rating of 7.40.
The 23-year-old is however, on loan from Galatasaray and will return at the end of the season.
“What I feared most was making a mistake, it is a surreal situation, on the one hand you have a contract with Galatasaray on the other you are a Trabzonspor player and want to please the fans,” Dursun told Lig Tv.
“I am delighted we won but hope Galatasaray win the league.”
Galatasaray manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu praised Dursun’s performance after the game.
“Salih is a professional, he showed that today, he serves Trabzonspor now but hopefully he will return to us and put in the same performances,” Hamzaoğlu said.
Galatasaray fell into second place following the game and could end the week in third position if Fenerbahçe beat Bursaspor today.
The Yellow Canaries are currently third but will overtake both Galatasaray and leaders Beşiktaş with a victory.
