Trabzonspor have turned their attention towards HSV’s playmaker Rafael van der Vaart after failing to secure the signature of Tolgay Arslan.

The Black Sea Storm lost the race to sign Arslan to their rivals Istanbul despite agreeing personal terms with the 25-year-old.

According to Eurospor TR, Trabzonspor have agreed a transfer fee with HSV for  Van der Vaart and will hold talks with the Netherlands international this week.

Van der Vaart’s contract expires at the end of the season however, Trabzonspor want to sign him in January for a small fee.

HSV are currently 14th in the German Bundesliga with 17 points in 17 games. Van der Vaart has scored four goals in 13 appearances for Hamburg this season.
