Trabzonspor’s Belkalem out for up to six weeks
Trabzonspor’s centre back Essaïd Belkalem has been ruled out of first team football for up to six weeks.
Belkalem initially sustained an injury to his left hamstring during the winter break. The Algerian international played the final minutes of the game against Fenerbahce and suffered a second degree tear in his left hamstring.
Trabzonspor confirmed the news on their official website. The powerful defender will be out for between four and six weeks.
Belkalem was ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations 2015 due to an injury. Algeria went on to be eliminated in the quarter finals by eventual winners Ivory Coast.
The 25-year-old defender has three goals and one assist in all competitions for Trabzonspor this season. Belkalem joined the Black Sea Storm from Watford this summer.
Trabzonspor are sixth in the Turkish Super League with 30 points in 19 games. The Black Sea Storm take on Istanbul Basaksehir this weekend.
