Galatasaray - Türk Telekom Arena

Galatasaray presidential candidate Turgay Kıran believes his likelihood of getting elected in the May elections is 90 percent.

“I give myself a 90 percent chance of getting voted in as president, I trust my friends and the team I have in place,” Kıran was quoted as saying in the Milliyet.

Duygun Yarsuvat will resign from his position as president at the end of the season.

Kıran will be running for election against Dursun Özbek, both have put their support behind the current head coach.

Former Galatasaray president Ünal Aysal was also expected to run for election but recently revealed that he will not be taking part in the race.

The former president delivered 27 trophies in 40 months from football to judo. Galatasaray won two Süper Lig titles, two Turkish Super Cups, the Turkish Cup and reached the Champions League quarter-finals under his leadership.

The Lions made a number of high profile transfers under Aysal including Wesley Sneijder, Didier Drogba and Fernando Muslera.

Yarsuvat replaced Ünal Aysal to become the 35th president of Galatasaray, winning 1777 of the 3379 votes cast on October 25, 2014.
