Turkish players sub-par other than Arda Turan says Miranda [divider]
Atletico Madrid defender Miranda underlined that other than Arda Turan the Turkish national team players were sub-par.
Turkey lost 4-0 to Brazil in an international friendly at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.
“Arda is a great player, believe me,” Miranda said.
“It was just that the Brazilian team were far superior on the night and the other Turkish players did not give him any support or contribute anything.”
Miranda also downplayed his own performance and revealed that he still has room for improvement.
“I’m certainly not that, every defender is prone to making mistakes, especially when facing great strikers,” Miranda said.
“As a defender, though, the simpler you try to play, the better you perform.
“The big secret to maintaining a high level of performances is good positioning and learning to anticipate what the attackers are going to do – at the right time.”
Miranda and Turan play together at Atletico Madrid and helped guide the Rojiblancos to their first La Liga title in 18 years.
Atleti also made the Champions League final which they lost against rivals Real Madrid.
