Emre Can started at right-back for the first time last night as Liverpool succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hull City.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers tinkered with his side following a disappointing run of results in recent weeks. The former Swansea boss set out his side in a 4-3-3 formation with Emre Can at right back.
The 21-year-old was signed to the club as a midfielder but has played the majority of his games in a three-man defence. Can received a rating of 6.76 from whoscored.com for his performance against Hull.
Only watching the highlights but Emre Can looks like the first right back I've ever seen with a free role!!

Emre Can is an awful full back but if we keep playing him there I'm sure it'll work out. Kind of like playing one striker has.

We have Johnson and Manquillo, two right backs on the bench and yet we are playing Emre Can, a midfielder, at right back.

Emre Can the false inverted right back

Liverpool fans seemed to be bemused at Rodgers decision to move the in-form player to right back rather than play him in midfield.
