Beşiktaş crushed Konyaspor 4-0 at the Başakşehir stadium to go into the new year as Turkish Super League leaders.

Oğuzhan Özyakup was yet again in impressive form and opened the scoring for Beşiktaş displaying lovely technical ability and intelligence to dribble past the goalkeeper and opposition defender inside the six-year box before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

The 23-year-old has established himself as a key member of Şenol Güneş’s Beşiktaş side that are not only first but have also scored the highest number of goals in the league this season – 41 goals.

Özyakup’s recent form has not gone unnoticed around Europe with Arsenal showing an interest in re-signing their former youth player as they continue efforts to sing a deep-lying midfielder according to Talksport.

The Beşiktaş star played a major role in Arsenal’s Under-18s side that won the Premier Academy League title in 2009 and made a few appearances in cup competitions for the Gunners before joining Beşiktaş in 2012 for a fee of €500,000.
