Video: Defensive blunder in Skrtel’s first game since leaving Liverpool

Martin Skrtel was involved in a defensive blunder on his Fenerbahce debut but he was not actually to blame.

Fenerbahce goalkeeper Ramazan was the real culprit in the calamity of errors that resulted in Monaco equalising against the home side in their first-leg Champions League 3. Round qualifier.

Ramazan inexplicably parried the ball into the path of Skrtel. The ball rebounded off the former Liverpool defender into the path of Falcao who smashed the ball into an empty net.

Below is a replay of the incident.

Skrtel had an impressive game other than being involved in the equaliser for Monaco.

The Yellow Canaries played a three-back that had never actually played together before. Summer signings Skrtel and Neustadter joined Denmark international Simon Kjaer in the back.

The back-three looked a little shaky at time but put on a pretty decent display considering the circumstances.

Fenerbahce ended up beating Monaco 2-1 and will travel to France next week for the second-leg tie.
