(Video) Former Arsenal striker sparks controversy over handball goal

Galatasaray beat Başakşehir 2-0 in the mini-Istanbul derby at the Fatih Terim stadium on the weekend to win their third consecutive game.

The main talking point after the game was however, Lukas Podolski’s opening goal. The Germany international appears to have handled the ball before smashing it into the back of the net.

The referee obviously missed the incident but it did not escape the fans attention and sparked a social media storm following a week of mishaps from Turkish referees.

Podolski has now scored in his last two league games and has a total of four goals in seven league appearances this season.

The 2-0 victory move the reigning champions into second place, three points behind leaders and Istanbul rivals Beşiktaş going into the international break.

Podolski has managed to keep his place in the Germany national team after an impressive start to his Galatasaray career and was called up by Joachim Low for the up and coming Euro 2016 Group D qualification games next week.
