(Video) Volkan Demirel passes gruelling Fenerbahce keeper training regime

Fenerbahçe goalkeeper was almost sidelined when sporting-director Giuliano Terraneo took over at the end of the season but the Turkish international has been trying to keep his position as the first-choice keeper.

Demirel has been put through a gruelling training regime program to get him in shape for the Champions League preliminary stage clash against Shakhtar at the end of the month.

A clip from training was released on the internet yesterday and has since gone viral. Demirel is filmed having to do a forward roll each time he makes a save – just watching it is exhausting.

Fenerbahçe were linked with Arsenal keeper David Ospina recently but opted to loan Porto’s Fabiano instead.

Demirel is expected to keep his position as first-team keeper when Fenerbahçe take on Shakhtar at the end of the month.

The 33-year-old keeper has spent 13 seasons at Fenerbahçe winning five Super Lig and two Turkish Cup trophies.
