Ozil will face competition from West Ham United’s star man Dimitri Payet and the Leicester City trio, Jamie Vardy. N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez.
Tottenham’s star striker Harry Kane – who won last seasons award – has also been nominated after scoring 22 goals this seasons.
The former Real Madrid man has provided the highest number of assists in the league this season (19) and would have had more had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates.
Ozil has also created the most chances in the league (122) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.
The Gunners host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, kick-off is at 16:00 (GMT).
