Video: West Ham target Gokhan Tore scores winner in Istanbul derby

Beşiktaş beat Galatasaray 2-1 in the Istanbul derby held at the Atatürk Olympic stadium to move back into first place in the Turkish Super League table.

Galatasaray looked to have won the game when Wesley Sneijder made the most of a goalkeeping blunder from Günay late in the second half.

However, Germany international Mario Gomez equalised just a minute later with a fine strike from outside the area for his 13th goal of the season.

Beşiktaş had the last laugh when second half substitute Gökhan Töre scored the winning goal to earn the Black Eagles their second consecutive Istanbul derby victory.

Töre scored his third goal of the season in the process and his celebration set a social media storm with his followers sharing ‘Töreing’ poses.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic recently stated that he tried to sign Töre at the start of the season and that he is a big fan of the explosive winger.

“I have always said that Gökhan Töre could play at any European team he has both the quality and the potential,” Bilic said.

“After agreeing terms with West Ham I told the board that I want him and I strongly believe he would add a lot to the team and be a success in England.”

Bilic is of course no stranger to Töre having coached him for the last two seasons before joining West Ham over the summer.

The Croatian manager is credited with getting the Turkish international’s career back on track after an unsuccessful spell at Rubin Kazan.
