West Ham manager Slaven Bilic revealed that he tried to sign Beşiktaş winger Gökhan Töre at the start of the season in an interview with the Socrates magazine.

Bilic also stated that he is a big fan of the Turkish international winger and that he would love to see him at West Ham.

“Gökhan is a legend he is a top guy and a great player of course I would love to have him in the team,” Bilic said.

“I tried to sign him at the start of the season but it was not the right time.”

Bilic knows Töre well having coached him for two years during his time at Beşiktaş over the past two seasons.

The explosive winger had the best season of his career under the stewardship of Bilic and has established himself as one of the most highly rated talents in Turkish football.

The Metro report that Arsenal are preparing a £14.5 million move for the Beşiktaş winger and that the Gunners have been keeping close tabs on him.

The explosive winger is of course no stranger to England having first made a name for himself in the Chelsea youth setup.

The 23-year-old has five assists and a goal in seven league games this season – the highest assist record in the league.
