West Ham join race for Everton target Meireles

West Ham are interested in Fenerbahçe midfielder Raul Meireles according to the Daily Mirror.

The Portuguese international has a year left on his contract however, Fenerbahçe want to cash in as they plan a squad overhaul in the summer.

The Yellow Canaries have the oldest squad on average in the Süper Lig and want to bring in younger players ahead for the new season with Champions League football looming.

Everton have also been linked with the 32-year-old according to the Takvim newspaper.

Meireles currently earns in the region of €3 million per-season but is rumoured to be open to the idea of taking a pay-cut for another season of Premier League football.
The central midfielder has years of experience playing in the Premier League.

The Portuguese international won PFA Fans’ Player of the Year in 2011 during his time playing at Liverpool and went on to help Chelsea lift the Champions League.

The 32-year-old joined Fenerbahçe from Chelsea for €10 million and has won two Turkish Cups as well as the Süper Lig title.
