West Ham & Newcastle target Douglas joins Turkish giants

Dynamo Moscow defender Douglas Franco Teixeira has joined Trabzonspor on a permanent deal.

The Black Sea based side released a statement on the stock exchange confirming the transfer.

The statement read: “Trabzonspor have agreed terms with Douglas Franco Teixeira and FC Dynamo Moscow over the transfer. FC Dynamo Moscow will receive €1.5 million.”

West Ham were also interested Douglas according to Talksport as was Newcastle United.

The 27-year-old defender joined the Russian giants from Netherlands side Twente in 2013 and had another year left on his current contract.

The Brazilian born defender also has Netherlands nationality but has yet to represent any country at international level.

The 1.93m tall defender made 33 appearances last season scoring three goals and picking up eight yellow cards in all competitions.

Beşiktaş finished last season in third place and booked a place in the Europa League group stages. The Black Eagles will take on familiar opposition for Douglas in Group H as they drew Lokomotiv Moscow yesterday. The Istanbul giants will also face Sporting Lisbon and Skanderbeu.
