West Ham's Dimitri Payet is as good as Arsenal star Mesut Ozil says pundit

The former England international Trevor Sinclair has stated that West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet is on par with Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Sinclair went onto say that the French international is more effective at scoring goals and deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the World Cup winner.

“The fact that he [Payet] has come into the Premier League in his first season and been as influential and got as many plaudits as he has shows we are talking about a top, top player,” Sinclair told 888 (via Express).

“Arsenal has a superior squad and are going for the title this year whereas Payet doesn’t have as strong a squad around him yet he’s still been exceptional in the chances he’s creating.

“He works hard for the team, he’s possibly more dangerous scoring goals than Ozil, and I definitely feel comfortable putting them in the same breath.”

Payet has also impressed in his debut season for West Ham. The 28-year-old has scored six goals and made five assists in his last 13 matches.

The France international joined West Ham on a five-year deal for an undisclosed eight-figure sum from Marseille in the summer.

Ozil has 16 assists in the Premier League this season and is just four assists away from matching Henry’s record record tally of 20.

Arsenal take on Burnley in the FA Cup this weekend and Southampton in the Premier League next week.
