Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck linked with shock move to Besiktas

Besiktas are preparing a move for Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck according to the Daily Star.

The daily newspaper states that Welbeck has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates following a knee injury which has kept him out of pre-season.

The Gunners are also understood to be on the hunt for a new striker and have been linked with the likes of Karim Benezema and Robert Lewandowski.

Arsenal’s current strikers Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have impressed during pre-season.

The report goes onto say that the Besiktas President Fikret Orman is prepared to fly into London and hold talks with Arsenal if they are open to selling the England international.

Besiktas have had a busy summer so far having signed Hoffenheim full-back Beck, Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma, Rodolfo and Tosic.

The Black Eagles sold last seasons top scorer to Shanghai Shenhua for €14 million and have yet to replace the Senegalese international. Ba found the back of the net on 28 occasions last term for the Istanbul based club.

Welbeck provided six assists and scored eight goals in 37 appearances for Arsenal last season.
