Aston Villa defender linked with move to Besiktas

The out-of-favour Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott has been linked with a move to Besiktas.

The Turkish newspaper Fotospor have claimed that the Black Eagles will approach the England international if they fail to sign Christian Zapata from AC Milan.

Lescott move to Aston Villa from their bitter rivals West Brom in the summer of 2015 on a two year deal. However, the 33-year-old has fallen out of favour with the club’s fans after comments made to the media.

Besiktas at the top of the Turkish Super League and are currently three points ahead of their Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce. The Black Eagles take on Galatasaray this weekend.

Villa have been relegated from the Premier League and will finish bottom of the table after losing their last nine games.

The Birmingham based club are yet to appoint a manager in place, the club have also suspended Gabriel Agbonlahor, while directors David Bernstein and Mervyn King resigned last month.
