Manchester United and Arsenal target Ilkay Gündogan will leave Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Ilkay Gündogan will leave Bundesliga Giants by July 2016. Gündogan has turned down a contract extension from Dortmund and looks set to depart at the end of this season.

The club confirmed the news on their official Facebook page. The statement reads, “Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund will part company with midfielder Ilkay Gündogan by 30 June 2016 at the latest.

“Gündogan has decided not to renew his contract with the eight-time German champions which is due to expire on that date.”

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have maintained an interest in Gundogan over the past year while the Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich are also understood to be weighing up a €30 million move for the 24-year-old.

Bayern have a habit of signing Dortmund’s best players in recent years and are now weighing up a €30 million bid for the Germany international.

Bayern have signed Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski from Dortmund in recent years and could add Gundogan to that list.

Gündoğan has four assists and three goals in 28 apperances for Dortmund this season.
