Arda Turan receives a spare boot for his birthday [divider]
Arda Turan hit the headlines mid-week after flinging his football boot at the linesman during Atletico Madrid’s 3-2 loss against Barcelona.
Turan’s teammates saw the funny side of the incident and decided they would reward the bearded one with a cake shaped as a football boot to celebrate his 28th birthday.

The Turkish international thanked his fans for their birthday messages via his twitter account.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder tweeted: “Thank you for the birthday whishes. Love you all!”
Turan responded to his boot coming off in a challenge by throwing it at the assistant referee. The boot narrowly missed the official’s head and resulted in the Turkish international being shown a yellow card.
Atleti ended up crashing out of the Copa del Rey 4-2 on aggregate.
The Rojiblancos face Eibar next in the La Liga on Saturday. The reigning champions are currently third in the league just four points behind leaders and cross-city rivals Real Madrid.
